Silent White

Leaving near deaf—
clattering dinnerware
rattling voices,
amplified boxes
of bundled music
imposed and ignored.

Exiting to a parking lot
quiet as a garden—
hearing restored—

Humming lights,
snowfall, as if I hear it,
breath-cloud near-freezing.

Whiteness so total,
nothing ignored—
flicker of color —

Crystals caught
in a street light’s anchoring
search and quiet melting.
