As children we are strangers in a strange land of adult configuration. Childhood curiosity flourishes then. As adults, we wish to awaken that curiosity through traveling.
My favorite things about being a stranger in a strange land is how my senses are heightened—I’m more alert and aware.
For anyone describing their traveled place as amazing, I think it’s the memories of the amazing place that one was in cognitively. It’s a state of awareness, that, with practice, we can seek and find right where we are.
What a wonderful souvenir of one’s travels—learning to see anew, with curiosity—then going somewhere familiar and doing the same.
