Leaf Calligraphy

These photos were taken during a familiar walk near my home, the same November day, 2012. It was this walk which inspired the poem “Shadow Calligraphy”. I posted one photograph with the poem, then raked up the rest of the leaves and put them together in this gallery.

A reader’s  comment prompted this reply:  Sometimes poems look hieroglyphic (almost like the shadow “calligraphy” in the poem), so I appreciate hearing when something comes across.

The way the photos are aligned on the page here reminds me of a papyrus page of cursive hieroglyphics, or Pitman shorthand.

    • Thank you for your encouraging note and nomination. I see that we have both recently launched our blogs—small sprouts—may they continue and grow. Everyone’s comment feels like a nomination of sorts for an award without a name.
